Anger

By Thomas Lasher

Anger is a quick goodbye.
It’s there then it’s gone.
In a blink of an eye, it is gone.
The blink of your eye, you realize.
You realize it was all for nothing.
Benefits: what were they?
All you got is a broken heart.
For that is all that comes from Anger.
Anger is a death sentence.
Everything you love disappears.
Anger consumes all.
I say to you let’s Love, and let Anger fade.
Anger is a death sentence, only when you let it be.
It doesn’t have to consume all.
Love is powerful.
Anger has no chance when you can Love.
What do you choose Love or Anger?
So to Anger, my old friend.
I say my final, GOODBYE.

For a few months now, I’ve been reading stories on this app called ”Episode.” I’ll play it during my free time (or not so free time) at school and all day at home. Basically, this and the sims are my two favorite games.

”Episode” is an interactive story game, where you make all types of choices that affect the entire story and it’s ending. There are about 40,000+ original Episode stories that you can choose from, but unfortunately, the choices that have the most effect on the stories are diamond choices, which you can earn just one by playing a chapter, completing the entire weekly challenge to get about three diamonds or buy them in bulk.

The good thing (and probably the best thing) about this app is the community stories. You get to read millions of original community stories and make choices that heavily impact the story for free. No diamonds needed! There is a bit of redundancy with theme and plot, but you just have to look for the hidden gems. My top three recommendations:

  • “Jaded Love” By Bri
  • “Liplock” by  Zee
  • “The Dragon Bride” by earlgreytea

If any of my readers do decide to download Episode, I really do recommend these are the first stories that you guys check out.

While we’re on the topic of community stories, I’d like to do a bit of a shameless plug for my own story that I’ll be publishing sometime before summer (if the disease of procrastination doesn’t infect me first,) called “Girls Support Girls.” My story is about four teenage girls who come together to support each other through good and bad times in their lives in a world where it’s looked down upon, yet common for young women and girls to be pitted against each other. You can pick who you play as (Nia, Meredith, Dawn, and Kara,) and they all have their own storylines that will intertwine. I’m excited to publish this as it is inspired by my own friendships and how my friends have supported me through hard times.

I hope that you all decide to download this app and give it a try. I promise, the stories are worth it and you’ll fall in love with the characters. If you do decide to download it, please take a look at the stories I recommended, you won’t regret it.

A Twisted Christmas

A Twisted Christmas

By Nijah Randolph-Williams

It’s that time of the year, Santa has to get back to work, but this time, he doesn’t want to. Mrs.Claus has left him for the Tooth Fairy, children no longer give him milk with cookies, and Rudolph no longer has a red nose to guide his sleigh.

Santa Claus has been looking for a way out of giving presents, he even thought of blaming the Grinch for stealing them all so he didn’t have to, except the Grinch no longer wants to steal Christmas. Feeling sorry for himself, Mr.Claus drowns his sorrows in a mixture of cookies, alcohol, and warm milk every night hoping for December to pass, he even stopped keeping track of the naughty and nice list.

The elves, becoming upset with Santa for not doing his job, walk out on him for the first time in history. Needless to say, Santa was depressed. At this point Santa has no will to live, he decides to go on top of a tall building and jump, but when he tries, Dasher comes and catches him with the sleigh. Eventually Santa gives up, and sits on top of the building thinking about all the children on the Polar Express headed to see him.

Finally, realizing the importance of Christmas to many children around the world, Santa decided to do his job. He went on to continue serving the good little boys and girls of the world, giving them hope they never dreamed of. The elves came back and Rudolph gained his light, and away they all flew, saying Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Brothers’ revenge

Brothers’ revenge

BACKGROUND:

Four brothers is a 2005 action thriller, directed by John Singleton and staring the talents of Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin, and Garrett Hedlund as four adopted brothers who return to Detroit their hometown, when their mother is murdered and vow to exact revenge on the killers. The movie also stars Terrence Howard, Josh Charles, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

If nothing else makes this movie then it’s the strength of the cast. This movie has a very strong cast and it definitely shows. Even the setting and weather play such a strong role that at points it feels like it’s own character. The setting plays a major part in action scenes and in the movie in general that it strengthens the scenes.

Some of the notable cast members are the four brothers themselves. Without them the movie would be a flop. But it’s their performances, especially Mark Walhberg’s that set the move apart from an average action flick. Mark Walhberg is the big brother in the story and also on set. He took them under his wing during filming and his leadership pays off with not only one great performance but four.

I truly enjoy this movie and I really don’t have many complaints about it either. The only really nitpick I have with it is Sofia Vergara’s character. She’s a minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.  She doesn’t move the story plot wise and she takes away from the movies over all story. Seemingly the only reason she’s even in the movie is to have a female attraction.

RATING:

A Mark Walhberg out of Mark Walhberg & the Funky Bunch
